At the turn of summer/autumn we will add a new product to the offer of LARX CARBON-FILM.COM heating system, namely LARX Heating Mat.
Carbon film heating is a simple and effective solution for DIY heating installation. Their thickness makes them suitable for all types of new buildings and renovations. Their only practical disadvantage compared to heating mats is that floor coverings (primarily tiles in bathrooms) cannot be glued directly onto the carbon heating film. The heating film must be placed in the floor structure under the concrete/anhydrite layer or under the floor slabs if other than a stacked floor covering is used. Therefore, heating fiml cannot be used for underfloor heating of e.g. bathrooms in renovation of apartment buildings, because in such buildings it is usually not possible to “dig up” the floor by a few centimetres in order to place the heating film under the screed/floor boards.
During our time in the electric underfloor heating market we have come across several more or less applicable solutions to this problem; from gluing heating film and synthetic mesh using industrial adhesives directly to the concrete substrate and then laying tiles, to heating film with a special layer of butyl tape on the bottom which is again glued to the cleaned concrete substrate. However, we have never been convinced of the applicability of these methods of fixing heating film. The biggest question mark has always been the durability of the bonding of the heating filmto the substrate and the behaviour of the adhesive over time, with repeated heating/cooling cycles due to casual heating use.
Therefore, in cases where the heating carbon film could not be used in the bathrooms, we use heating mats. Their biggest and for us most important advantage is that they are installed directly under the tiles in the installation flexible adhesive, they do not increase the floor composition and they are also applicable in bathroom renovations in apartments. Therefore, in order to offer our wholesale customers and installation partners a complete solution for the installation of heating in any floor composition, regardless of the final covering used, we have decided to extend the product range of the LARX CARBON-FILM.COM heating system to include heating mats.
After a long and demanding testing of samples from all available heating mat manufacturers, we have chosen the supplier we think is the most suitable. According to our many years of experience, we have chosen heating mats with an output of 160W/m². This is for use in bathrooms, where a fast short-term heating ramp-up is important for ideal area performance. We will offer the heating mats in 6 sizes – from 1m² to 8m². The heating mats are already largely manufactured and we can’t wait to offer them to our customers and installation partners.
Our new LARX Heating Mat will be available for wholesale in late summer/early autumn so you can get your heating project done in time for the winter season. Follow our blog and our social media for more information and news.
