Installing heating carbon films on your own has become more and more popular in recent years. This is due to the speed and simplicity of installation, their maintenance-free operation and last but not least, the significantly lower cost of purchasing a heating system than a turnkey installation.
The implementation of a heating system using carbon heating film is simple, straightforward and fast. Any skilled handyman can handle it, and an electrician should be able to handle the installation without a single hitch or problem.
On our website you will find all 3 types of our carbon heating film available for purchase, including all necessary installation material such as wires, connectors, insulating butyl tape or connector crimping pliers. Our interactive form will calculate how much other installation material you will need when you enter the amount of carbon heating film you need. Therefore, you shouldn’t have the slightest problem with missing anything during installation. We will be happy to advise and assist you with the correct selection of our carbon heating film and the purchase of installation materials for your underfloor heating system.
Heating film
Feel free to contact us when choosing a heating film for your project. We will be happy to support you or your electrician in the proper selection and installation of our heating system and recommend the most appropriate carbon film to ensure your heating system operates as efficiently as possible.
LARX carbon heating film, 100 W/m² – designed especially for installation directly under floating floor coverings.
LARX carbon heating film, 180 W/m² – suitable for installation under the screed and directly under the floor covering in special cases (places with high heat demand, without increased resistance).
LARX durable carbon heating film , 150 W/m² – designed especially for installation under the screed.
Installation material
- LARX wires – The connecting wires for carbon film are made of tinned copper, have double teflon electrical insulation and are resistant to high temperatures. We recommend installing the heating film only with our conductors. The functionality of the heating system cannot be guaranteed if other cables or wires are used.
- Connectors – connectors are crimped with crimping pliers on copper guide strips of carbon film. Two connectors are required for each strip of carbon film. It is not recommended to connect the heating film other than using LARX connectors.
- Crimping pliers – We recommend using our crimping pliers to crimp the connectors. Crimping pliers crimp the connector across the entire surface with exactly the force required for ideal contact, plus they make the entire installation process easier and faster.
- Butyl insulation tape – Butyl insulation tape is used to insulate the carbon film connectors and the cut edges of the individual strips of heating film. For yellow LARX resistant carbon film, the entire shear edge and connectors must be insulated. For proper functionality of the heating system, we recommend that you insulate connectors with crimped connection wires only with butyl tape designed for this purpose.
- Durable insulation tape – Durable insulating tape for versatile use. Thanks to its high adhesion, it can be used to fix heating foils and cables to step insulation. In exceptional cases it can be used to insulate the cut edge of heating film (never connectors!)
- Duct tape LARX CARBON-FILM.COM – Universal adhesive tape for LARX CARBON-FILM.COM heating system for versatile use, especially as a helper for fixing heating film, cables, covering PE foils and various taping during installation.
- Grounding net for grounding carbon film in bathrooms and wet rooms – The grounding network is required by the standard to be installed on PE foil over carbon film in bathrooms and similar “wet” rooms. The grounding net must be connected to the ground wire (yellow-green wire).
- LARX protective and insulating PE film 0,2 mm – Insulating and protective PE film 0,2 mm is used to cover all LARX carbon film after installation. It serves as a protection against moisture and meets the requirements of the standard for additional electrical insulation. PE foil should be used in any type of heating film installation.
- Clips for carbon film and connecting wires – Plastic clips for thermal insulation (polystyrene, mineral wool), which secure carbon film and supply cables against displacement. Never pierce the carbon film directly with the clip, but attach it to the overlapping end of the butyl tape. The clips are only for installing the heating film under the screed.
-
Contactor Hager 25A/230V – Installation relay for switchboard, which can be optionally used for switching the power supply of carbon film. The thermostat then does not directly switch the power load, but controls these contactors. Contactor switching is a more robust solution that extends the life of the thermostats and is essential for boost circuits.
Carbon film heating control/thermostats
An important part of any underfloor heating system is a thermostat with an external floor temperature sensor. According to the standard, the temperature of the floor should not exceed 29°C in living rooms (33°C in bathrooms), so it is important to use a thermostat with an internal (according to which we control the room temperature) and external (according to which we control the floor temperature) temperature sensor. Our LARX touch and Wi-Fi thermostats meet all these requirements. It is also possible, for example in the summer when there is no need for heating, to set the control only according to the external sensor and thus use the heating foil only to heat the floor to a comfortable temperature.
